Diversity and Inclusion

At Sunwing Travel Group, diversity and inclusion has always been, and continues to be, a top priority. We are proud to have a workforce that is made up of passionate people from all experiences and backgrounds and we want to celebrate the diversity we have as an organization with employees throughout North America, Latin America and the Caribbean. We are committed to equity, inclusion and to fostering social justice as well as continuous education and seeking opportunities for improvement.

Across the Group, our strategy is focused on supporting employees’ sense of belonging. We are committed to supporting our company Purpose of passionate people making vacation dreams come true, by promoting and celebrating diversity, inclusion and belonging for all experiences and backgrounds as an extension of our EPIC Values and company culture. This strategy comes to life through the following three strategic pillars:

Educate our people

on topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice

Engage our people

in activations that celebrate diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice

Empower our people

to contribute, inquire about and discuss these topics in an open and honest way

Steps Taken to Activate Our Strategy

  • Stephen Hunter, CEO of Sunwing Travel Group, signed the Black North Initiative Pledge – a pledge that shows commitment to taking tangible steps towards ending systemic racism in corporate Canada
  • A Global D&I Committee was formed with employees who represent the diverse voices we have within our company divisions. This committee plays an active role in steering and supporting our global strategy and is made up of employees across a multitude of destinations and company divisions.
  • Partnered with The Centre for Education and Training, funded by the Toronto Pearson Airport, to support our education strategy
  • Partnered with Diversio to pilot bias corrector technology for measuring the impacts of our strategy
  • The Y.A.Y! (You are You) Committee was an employee resource group in Canada started by the Airline division that has now merged to become a part of the Global D&I Committee. This team was instrumental in leading Canadian activations and past initiatives, including:
    • Participation in Canadian Aviation Pride, the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, Toronto Pride, Montreal Pride, Vancouver Pride, Black History Month and Women in Aviation and Leadership Week
    • Sponsoring the LGBT Youth in Aviation Mentoring Event (the first of its kind) and the Northern Lights Aerospace Foundation
